Founded in 2016, Pinkorangeclub collaborates with artists to create high-quality, exclusive pieces. Having started out as a project among friends on the Dutch island of Vlieland, Pinkorangeclub has since then grown and developed into an independent clothing brand, collaborating with a variety of creatives and artists.
Pinkorangeclub has its roots on Vlieland. The brand draws inspiration from the island, thus it selects and invites artists to come do the same while being artist-in-residence on Vlieland. In this way Pinkorangeclub and the artist create something new and wearable, together. Artists spend some time on the island and eventually create art which the brand then translates into a wearable piece.
In facilitating the creation of these wearable pieces, Pinkorangeclub is building a community of art, nature and design enthusiasts. The pieces that are created reflect the process of the artists and the time s/he spends on the island. Pinkorangeclub provides both visual and textual context about the artists, their process and how the island has been an inspiration to them.
For every theme, Pinkorangeclub organises an artist-in-residence on Vlieland. They spend a few days on the island, free to go their own way, and be inspired by the island. The creation process varies for every artist: some artists are busy creating on the island itself, while others may start their process when they return home.
Every artist-in-residence, Pinkorangeclub works with a specific theme. The theme for the first collection is insula. Translated from Latin, insula means ‘island’. One could apply this on the location of the artist-in-residence. Even more interesting is the concept of ‘isolation’, also derived from insula. It concerns shielding external influences. In an overly social world this became more difficult. Secluding yourself offers one a space and time for reflection.
Dymph de Gooijer (1998) is a Dutch visual artist. Since the age of 14, she makes drawings and paintings but also sculptures and lithographs. Dymph’s work is characterized by using oil paint and inks.
Nosh Neneh (1993) is a Dutch photographer. Nosh plays with the blurry border between natural and artificial landscapes. Her photographs portray our world as a fragile beauty on the edge of the abyss, emphasizing the impact of climate change.
Olf de Bruin (1991) is a Dutch illustrator. Nature is the main source of inspiration in his work, often resulting in wonderful and dreamy illustrations.
